This conceptual design proposes a two-schemed solution for the City of Calgary Affordable Housing. The two design options provide for similar densities (approx. 150 units), although their urban design responses are different:
- One is a group of three buildings located on top of a one-storey parking structure. All apartment buildings are four storeys, with the maximum three-storey step-down townhouses attached to the south building. While creating an internal animated courtyard, the proposed concept still responds well to the urban conditions of the surrounding properties.
- The second design option proposes a group of two buildings joined by a common element dividing the main courtyard amenity space into two smaller urban parks. In addition, two smaller green spaces would be included - one urban park on the south and one entry/drop off area were proposed on the north side of the development. The residential buildings are located on top of a one-storey parking structure. All buildings are four storeys, with the step-downs attached to the southeast buildings, across from a group of existing two-storey townhouses
